Deans Marsh Primary School provides a very successful transition program for incoming kindergarten children.  This program is designed to familiarise children with the school - its surrounds, buildings, other children and, of course, the teachers.

The school operates a buddy program between new prep children and a grade 4/5 child to ensure a smooth transition between kinder and school.  The buddies visit Birregurra kinder on during October/November.

Enrolled students are invited to attend three transition sessions at the school.  These sessions will be held during term 4 will dates to be advised.

1st session from 9am and collect between 11am and 11.30am (during morning recess)
2nd session from 9am and collect between 1.30 and 2.15pm (during lunchtime)
3rd session from between 11am and 11.30am (during morning recess) to 3.15pm to familiarise the children with the afternoon school/home routines

These sessions aim to let the children experience the school environment and regular routines to assist with a smooth beginning to 2019.  The children will be involved in class activities in the P/1 room as well as activities with their 'buddy' from grade 4/5.  Their buddy will provide a familiar, happy face that will greet them next year when they start school and will be their 'minder' in the yard.

What to Bring

  • a sunhat for outside play
  • play lunch and a drink (clearly labelled) on 1st session
  • play lunch, a drink and lunch (clearly labelled) on 2nd and 3rd sessions.

New preps if they wish, can access the Bambra school bus service on all three days to travel to school.  They may also access the Bambra school bus service to travel home on the last session.  Please notify the school if you would like your child to do so.  Unfortunately the Pennyroyal bus is currently full and we regret that children will not be able to access it for the transition days.
